Artist's Comments

So I've been drawing a bit lately, but not uploading. Don't ask me why, I don't know.

This is a Morndu (made up species of mine).

Male Morndu are known as bucks, female as does. Bucks are distinguishable by their impressive manes and tails, and their massive horns. Does are smaller, lighter, and faster, and their tails are shorter and not as heavily furred. They do have a fair bit of hair covering their eyes (that's so I don't have to work out how to place them lol) and small manes, but nothing on the manes of the bucks.

Morndu are commonly used for sport and as beasts of burden. Males in particular are more suited to the task of carrying or pulling heavy loads, and can carry ten times their own body weight on their backs and can pull ten times that again. An average male Morndu weighs four tons and stands about two-and-a-bit metres at the shoulder, but a prize buck can weigh as much as eight, even ten tons and can stand three or four metres at the shoulder. This Morndu in particular weighs about three and a half tons and stands two metres at the shoulder. Females seem to be best suited for sport, as they cannot carry as much, are smaller, lighter and faster, and do not enjoy carrying that which humans will not. However, it takes great skill to control these creatures, because they literally have minds of their own.

Morndu are incredibly intelligent, more so than even humans. They have learned to speak our languages, and can even use our tools, but more than that, they seem to understand instinctively when something is about to go wrong. Speculation follows the species wherever they go, and may include anything from psychic powers to accusations of committing heinous crimes obviously organised by something of higher intelligence than humans. However, such speculation appears to be unfounded, as Morndu are highly empathetic and are not criminals. As for the speculation over psychic powers, evidence has been found neither to support nor disprove these theories.

Overall, Morndu are a mysterious species. Very little is known about these creatures, but scientific studies suggest bucks are highly territorial and largely solitary, whereas does are incredibly social creatures and willing to share their territories with other Morndu. There are a few authenticated reports of a male Morndu living with a group of females, and even one of two bucks peacefully co-existing in the larger Morndu's territory.

Morndu species and all related concepts are copyright to ~ImmortalShande and shall not be used without the artist's express written permission. Please do not make your own Morndu; these are for use in the artist's work in both visual mediums and literature.

And ~Arratra is the only person permission has been granted to or ever will be granted to, so please don't ask.
